About Amerex
Amerex Corporation® is a leading American manufacturer of firefighting equipment, headquartered in Trussville, Alabama. The company produces hand-portable and wheeled fire extinguishers designed for commercial and industrial use, along with fire and explosion suppression systems for defense and military applications. Amerex's technological advancements have contributed to the development of automatic restaurant fire suppression systems, vehicle suppression systems, gas detection devices, industrial suppression systems, and fire detection equipment.
Amerex was founded in 1971 by Ned Paine and George Baureis. Ned Paine remained actively involved with the company until his retirement in September 1999, at which point Amerex was acquired by McWane, Inc.
In 2010, Amerex gained recognition as a key military subcontractor after designing a fire suppression system for U.S. military vehicles. These systems, still in use today, are deployed on vehicles that operate in high-risk areas, such as those threatened by mines and improvised explosive devices in the Middle East. Amerex supplies these systems as a subcontractor to Oshkosh Corporation, a prominent manufacturer of military vehicles. The suppression systems utilize optical sensors to detect fires and explosions, activating jets and hoses that deploy a concealed fire-suppressing agent.
In 2011, Amerex expanded its international reach by acquiring The Solberg Company, a firefighting equipment manufacturer based in Bergen, Norway. As noted by Amerex President Bill Beyer, fire extinguisher sales generally reflect trends in the broader economy and construction activity. Today, Amerex manufactures approximately 2.5 million commercial and industrial fire extinguishers annually.
Since 1999, Fire Safety Supply has been the go-to for fire suppression products, industrial dry chemical systems, high and low-pressure CO2, vehicles, and clean agents. We serve various types of industries such as restaurants, commercial kitchen, wineries, and more.
